Why this matters

Opening is the day the spending stops being a plan and starts being a business. It is also the day a second location is most likely to be judged, by customers who will decide in one visit whether this one is as good as the first.

The first site had the advantage of your full attention and no comparison. The second has neither. What carries it is preparation that happened before the doors opened, because almost nothing can be fixed in the first fortnight while you are also trading.

Before you start

Have the certificate of occupancy and every permit in hand, not promised. Opening without them is the one risk here that can undo the whole investment.

Decide what the first month is for. Not revenue. The first month is for finding out what is different about this site, and a target that assumes it behaves like the original will have you making changes based on noise.
