Inventory, scheduling or job-management system implemented

How this closesComplete the tool — Fill it in here. What you enter is what counts as done.

Why this matters

There is usually one job in a business that eats hours and goes wrong often: knowing what stock you have, working out who is where tomorrow, or keeping track of which job is at which stage. Putting that one thing on a system is the clearest return available from any software, because you are replacing something you do badly every week.

The failure mode is buying a system for everything. A platform that handles inventory, scheduling, jobs, invoicing and customers is a platform nobody finishes setting up, and six months later the business is still running on the whiteboard with a subscription attached.

Before you start

Pick one job. The one that costs you the most hours or causes the most mistakes. Write it down as a sentence: we lose time every week because we do not know what stock we have. That sentence is what you are buying, and it is what tells you whether you succeeded.

Be honest that implementation is the hard part, not the choice. Choosing takes an afternoon. Getting real data in, training people and reaching the point where nobody uses the old way takes about six weeks. Businesses that budget for the afternoon and not the six weeks are the ones that end up paying for software they do not use.
