Why this matters
Contractors, cosmetologists, security operators, healthcare providers, real estate agents, childcare providers and many others require a state licence to trade at all.
Working unlicensed in a licensed trade is a criminal matter in some categories, and it voids your insurance.
Before you start
Requirements vary enormously by profession. Most require documented experience or training hours, an exam, a fee, and often a bond.
Contractors licensed through CSLB must additionally carry workers compensation or file an exemption. Not yet confirmed by LAEDC.
