Tax returns and financial documents organized for funding applications

How this closesHand in your document — Submitting it closes this step. We keep a copy for your record — we never file or submit anything for you.

Why this matters

Funding is lost to disorganisation far more often than to weak numbers. A lender or grant reviewer works a queue. An application that arrives complete gets read. One that arrives in pieces, with documents emailed over four days, goes to the bottom of the pile and often expires there, and nobody tells you that is what happened.

The reverse is a real advantage. Build this folder once and you stop choosing which opportunities to apply for based on how tired you are. A grant that opens on a Monday and closes on a Friday becomes possible, because your part of it takes twenty minutes.

Before you start

Decide where this folder lives and that there is exactly one of it. A cloud folder you can reach from your phone, not a drive at the office and a second version in your email. Most of the pain in this step comes from three slightly different copies.

If you are missing a tax return, start the replacement request now because it is the only item here with a waiting time. The IRS provides business tax transcripts online and by form: Get a business tax transcript, or Form 4506-T.

The rest of this step is for LAEDC clients

The steps themselves, the questions worth asking Pathfinder, where to send your document, and who to call when you get stuck. An account is free, it keeps your progress, and it connects you to an advisor who works with businesses like yours.
